MEET THE FACULTY
Co-Owner/JPB/Ballet - Miss Jenn attended the University of Music and Art in Frankfurt, where she received her Master of Arts Degree in Theater Dance with a major in Classical Vaganova Technique. During her residency in Germany, she danced with the Frankfurt Ballet Company and was a guest performer with Royal Ballet Company in London. Miss Jenn began her teaching in Germany and has continued teaching her in Washington for almost 20 years. She is certified by the World renowned Bolshoi Ballet Academy of Moscow as having completed Levels A and B (1st through 5th year of dance education) of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Teacher Certification Program. And she is the founder of JPB’s Le Petit Ballet studio in Bremerton, which opened in 2007 and is now NSD’s pre-professional ballet company.
Co-Owner/CDG/Lyrical/Jazz - Miss Stephanie attended Cornish College of the Arts receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Degree, Cum Laude. She formerly danced with Cornish Dance Theater company and appeared for years as a guest performer for Olympic Perfomance Group on Bainbridge Island. She directs the studio's competition dance team, Clarke Dance Group, & formerly served as director/choreographer for the Kitsap Admirals Basketball Dance Team. She has been teaching and choreographing for 16 years throughout Washington State & her specialties include Lyrical/Contemporary, Jazz & Modern dance.
Ballet/Combo/Lyrical - JoAnne Wynn is a native of Washington State and relocated to Delaware in 2002 where she has spent the past 14 years as a studio instructor. JoAnne built her strong foundation through the study and performance of Classical Ballet and has spent the last decade developing her skills in all dance styles by attending professional workshops in New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore. JoAnne is certified in Anne Green Gilbert’s acclaimed Creative Dance program, has taught and adjudicated for International Teachers of Dance, Inc., and brings an added layer of expertise to the dance classroom based on her experience teaching pre-school. JoAnne’s choreography has received Critic’s Choice/Best in Show, Exceptional Staging & Outstanding Ballet Performance Awards at many regional dance competitions and many of her students have gone on to pursue dance on the college and professional level.
Hip Hop/Boys - Sam Picart originally started dancing as a teenager, being self-taught in urban dance styles. Sam is continuing to develop his own unique style blending Urban Street disciplines and contemporary dance techniques respectively. He began his formal dance training with his Aunt Jennifer Picart- Branner(formerly of the Frankfurt Ballet) when he was 18. He received a BFA from Cornish College of the Arts and has studied on scholarship at the Joffrey Ballet in New York City. Sam has danced featured roles in the Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Jose Limon's 'Psalm', and Camille A Brown's 'New Second Line'. He is also a founding member of Ashani dances directed by Iyun AshaniHarrison. Recently, Sam was the chosen winner of Ellen's Dance Off competition and was a featured guest on the show. Currently, Sam teaches, choreographs, and performs all over the US with Seattle as his home base. He forever considers himself a student.
Lyrical/Jazz/Ballet - Rebecca Smith is a local dancer, performer, and choreographer. Born and raised in the Seattle area, she received her technical training in the UW Dance Program, along with Ewajo Dance Centre and Bainbridge Ballet in ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, and afro-latin. She continues her training and education in dance by attending workshops such as Strictly Seattle and the Doug Varone and Dancers Winter Workshop. Over the last year she has performed in many new works for choreographers such as Cheryl Delostrinos, Imana Gunawan, and Hallie Scott. Rebecca is a dancer with The Three Yells Performance Company and is a member of Au Collective. Her own work has been produced at LAUNCH, LAUNCH 2.0 and LAUNCH 3.0 Choreographer’s Showcases at The Studios, as well as in Au Collective’s Gold & Skin 2015. She has also premiered Settlers, a film, at Strictly Seattle 2015. She has an immense passion for teaching and is thrilled to be able to share her love for dance with others.
Acro/Jazz - Jessica Carpenter started dancing and gymnastics at the age of 3. She studied jazz, lyrical, ballet, tap and tumbling for 17 years while growing up in Montana. She performed and competed on an acro/tumbling team on a local and national level for 7 years. Jessi started teaching dance in 1995 and has taught in the Kitsap area since 2002. She holds a BFA from Montana State University and recently received certification from the Acrobatic Arts Teacher Training course. Jessi has also choreographed for competitive jazz teams and local pageants.
Combo/Jazz - Jamie has been dancing since she was 4 years old and has been performing since she was 8. She competed on a dance team for 7 years. During this time she participated in many competitions and conventions culminating in throughout Washington and California and competed at the Hollywood Connections National Finals in 2005. She also performed in Disneyland in 2000 and 2002. She has taught for 5 years in various styles, ages 6-18. Jamie is now married and has four kids, three of who currently dance at Northwest School of Dance.
Combo - Annanise Lowney has a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a minor in dance from Pacific Lutheran University. She grew up learning dance in Astoria, OR. After graduating high school, she trained and performed with PLU’s dance team and ensemble. She moved to the Kitsap area after graduating college and began teaching at local studios. Annanise has been teaching dance for over 10 years and is excited to have started teaching with NSD in 2015. Annanise also works as an RN at the Harrison Medical Center as a Hospital Supervisor.
Tap/Jazz - Kathy Dalessi has been dancing more or less non-stop since the age of three. As a featured dancer for Disneyland, she has danced in countless parades, special events, commercials, and has performed for a variety of audiences range from Presidents to the Rose Bowl crowd. She also was part of the Entertainment production team for many Walt Disney Studios movie premiers including Evita, Pocahontas and Mulan. She was a member of the New World Ballet Company, and was an elite gymnast as a child. For the last fifteen years, she has taken her love of tap and jazz to the classroom and taught thousands of students in Colorado, Nevada and Washington. She has directed numerous award winning competition team numbers and has received acclaim for her innovative choreography for the Olympic Performance Group. Her greatest personal accomplishment has been passing on the love of dance to her daughters.
Ballet - Miss Cheyenne Martinek has spent most of her life in Kitsap County, mainly around the Bremerton and Poulsbo area. She has been dancing for over 16 years, with 8+ years of experience working with children both inside and out of studio classes. She has danced with local dance companies such as Dance Ensemble Northwest, and Northwest School of Dance’s own JPB. Miss Cheyenne has an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Olympic College and is certified in Anne Green Gilbert’s Creative Dance (Brain Dance) program.
Musical Theatre - Miss Brittany Hess has been involved in the theatre and dance community for over 25 years. A native of Washington, she began studying dance and community theatre at the age of 6, and has stayed involved ever since. She has previously worked as an instructor for The Academy of Performing Arts, and currently is a choreographer and teacher for Paradise Theatre in Gig Harbor. She is very passionate about theatre and is so excited to expand her love of the arts to kids in the community. Favorite past roles include Rizzo in Grease, Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie, and Nancy in Oliver.
Hip Hop - Heather Dobbins, raised in Gig Harbor, WA, has been dancing nearly her entire life. She began dancing at Jo Emery’s Ballet School at the age of three, where she studied strictly in ballet for eight years. Ready to explore more fields of dance, Heather then moved on to study with Harbor Dance and Performance Center where she was introduced to contemporary, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop. After being a company member for several years, she began teaching her own classes at Harbor Dance at the age of 15. On top of being a dance instructor, Dobbins danced with and was captain of, the Gig Harbor High School Dance Team, H2Whoa. Now, a recent graduate from Gig Harbor High School, Heather is staying in the Gig Harbor area to continue her training as a hip hop dancer, and work towards her dream of being a choreographer. She is currently teaching hip hop at Harbor Dance, assistant coaching the Gig Harbor High School Dance Team, and is beginning her first year as a hip hop instructor at Northwest School of Dance in Bremerton. Her goal as a choreographer is to create healing through movement, and allow her students to express themselves in the most natural way possible.
Ballroom - Soleman Krebs has been dancing most of his life starting at the age of 4 when his mom enrolled him into tap dancing class. He loved it so much he never stopped dancing! He became a certified ballroom instructor and taught ballroom for a number of years until 12 years ago when his love for West Coast Swing took all his focus and energy and that is where his love for teaching now lies.
Angei Kostoff started dancing and competing in the country circuit in 1996 and then in 2007 turned all her focus to WCS. Soleman and Angei met in 2010 on the dance floor and have been dancing, competing and teaching together ever since! They moved to Silverdale, WA from Chicago 4 years ago and have taken the WCS scene on the Kitsap Peninsula and helped it flourish! They have a weekly WCS lesson & dance called West Coast Wednesday’s at McClouds Bar & Grill in Bremerton, WA and can be found teaching for USA Dance Kitsap Chapter, Seattle Swing Dance Club & other dance studios and dance events in the PNW as well as across the country! While their workshops are full of technique, proper connection and fun variations they like to focus on the social dancing aspect of the dance. Their #1 rule is “You must always have fun!”

Office Assistant / Birthday Party Coordinator - Miss Joelle has 3 children dancing at NSD, is involved with the school, CDG, JPB Ballet Company, and Winter's Tale. She works part time in the office and will happily help you with any dancewear, questions, and tutu needs with a smile on her face.
